Africa-Press – Lesotho. Maluti Wool and Mohair Centre held a ceremony of appreciation for their outstanding client Kimetso Mathaba where he was also awarded a cheque amounting to M14 302.59 within 30
days of issuing wool. Speaking at the ceremony Maluti Wool and Mohair Centre Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs Lehlohonolo Matee highlighted that Mathaba brought his product on February 24th
to their centre and it was sold by March 24th and his payment was immediately processed. He said the issuance of the cheque is just a demonstration. Matee stated that they are honoured by Mathaba’s trust despite the well know
bad reputation of brokers in the country. “I believe that this will bring hope to other farmers to trust brokers in Lesotho that they could also sell their
products in the country,” he noted. For his part, the beneficiary Mathaba indicated that he is not an exception from other farmers of merino and agora (wool and mohair).
He added that it has been a challenging journey in the selling of wool and mohair for the past three years, whereby one had to wonder which broker is reliable for selling wool and mohair to.
“I used to sell straight to Port Elizabeth without any middleman, then I decided to try
and sell to Maluti Wool and Mohair, my aim was to compare the duration in which I will be paid and the turnover. Farming is my primary source of income and as
the sole breadwinner in my family, I had to find a better way to sell my product. I am therefore content with the risk I took for trusting this centre,
they paid me within 30 days, my sheep were 68 and weigh 193kg,” Mathaba explained. Mathaba extended that he is grateful and satisfied with the money, he mentioned that he will buy
medication and food for his animals so that they could live long and healthy and generate more revenue. He conveyed his gratitude to Maluti Wool and Mohair Centre
for their remarkable services. “I really urge other farmers to consider this centre for their future trade, I wish for this centre to grow,” he noted.
