The Five-day FIFA Elite Referees MA Course came to a successful close this evening in Juba, marking a vital step forward for the development of officiating in South Sudanese football. The event, attended by esteemed officials including Mr. Deng Abdul Rahman, the Second Vice President of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF), underscored the commitment to enhancing the skills and professionalism of referees across the nation.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Abdul Rahman expressed heartfelt gratitude to the participants who traveled from various states, highlighting their dedication to advancing their careers in officiating. “This course is a pivotal achievement,” he stated. “Uphold integrity, practice self-discipline, and respect the game of football.”

The course was also a testament to the collaborative efforts of FIFA, with notable contributions from FIFA Technical Instructor, Essamelodin Abdelfattah, and Fitness Instructor, Bento Tomas. Mr. Abdul Rahman acknowledged FIFA’s unwavering support, noting that their involvement has greatly improved the training experience for South Sudanese referees.

Mr. Thiong John Got, Chairperson of the Technical and Development Committee, praised the participants for their hard work and assured them that any challenges they encounter would be communicated to the Executive Committee.

Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary General Mss Viola Wili congratulated the attendees, urging them to implement their new knowledge within their states and share insights with those who could not attend.

Representing the Central Referees Committee, Mr. Daboul Paul emphasized the necessity for further training courses, highlighting the urgent need to address the estimated 400 unqualified referees in the country. “More training is essential,” he asserted. “Our referees must be equipped to manage the evolving demands of the sport.”

FIFA Instructor Abdelfattah celebrated the course’s success and encouraged participants to apply their learnings diligently and embrace hard work. “Your commitment and hard work is the foundation of your growth,” he remarked.

As the course concludes, it is evident that the future of football officiating in South Sudan is on an upward trajectory. The collective dedication of participants, along with the support from FIFA and local officials, promises to raise the standards of football across the nation, ensuring a brighter future for the sport.
