Africa-Press – Lesotho. As part of efforts to support education and invest in the future of young people, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane together with Chinese Ambassador Yang Xiaokun on Thursday led a sod turning for construction of administration block at Moruthane AME High school.

In his remarks, Minister Mpotjoane said this is not only a construction project but investment in children’s future, community and the country.

He said this is their affirmation that no nation can prosper without education hence they are here to strengthen the foundation of their nation.

He said the partnership of Lesotho and China has moved from high level declarations to small projects that enhance the lives and communities of Lesotho and Moruthane is an example.

He expressed gratitude to the Chinese embassy for investing in a rural school away from town saying this is a sign of inclusive partnership. He said they are looking forward to more projects of this nature.

To the principals and teachers, he said this does not only solve their problems but enables them to concentrate on their core mandate.

He added that they have adopted the school as the Ministry and would like to see more A+ saying students with five A+, the ministry will give each M5000.

To parents, Minister Mpotjoane said education is a three-legged pot and they have to protect the block once completed for the benefit of future generations.

He added that through this they are turning a new page of Moruthane and laying the foundation of hope. He reaffirmed Lesotho’s commitment to supporting One-China policy.
