In part two of our Fundraising in Sport for Development series, join us as we speak to some of the world’s most innovative delivery organisations and hear about some of their fundraising successes and challenges over the past twelve or so months.
Our Managing Director Luke Southall will be joined by Felix Spowage (Development Director at Skateistan), Steve Fleming (Co-founder at Kick4Life) and two other leading sport for development organisations.
Each member of our panel will bring a unique perspective on fundraising, covering areas including major giving, events and galas, digital fundraising and institutional grants. Together, we will explore some of the reasons behind many of the stand-out findings from our Fundraising in Sport for Development report from 2020 and whether they have played out as expected in 2021.
Felix Spowage: Felix is an experienced fundraising and communications professional who leads the development team at the award-winning Skateistan, raising funds to empower children through skateboarding and education in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South-Africa. Felix has secured a wide range of funding from governments, companies, foundations and individuals. He has also worked on numerous film and photography projects, as well campaigns to raise awareness for Skateistan.
Steve Fleming: Steve brings a wealth of local and international fundraising experience to our panel through his time at Kick 4 Life FC, a multi-award-winning charity, social enterprise and football club based in Lesotho in Southern Africa. The organisation has reached more than 100,000 vulnerable children through health, education and employability projects, as well as providing structured training and employment opportunities to hundreds of young people via its hospitality enterprises. In 2020 Kick4Life FC became the first top-flight football club in the world to commit to gender equal pay and budgets. Steve has worked across the world through the organisation’s training and consultancy service, Kick4Life Assist.
