Africa-Press – Lesotho. With a growing demand for locally produced foods amid the climate challenges, a team of three farmers from Ha-Mosethe village, Berea says climate smart agriculture is essential to maintain sustainable food production.

This emerged during an interview with the Agency on Friday where they highlighted the significance of transforming agricultural practices from the ancient ways of doing things to the climate smart farming methods.

In his remarks, the pioneer of the farming project and also Ha-Mosethe Area Chief Maliehe Mosethe said since starting a project during COVID-19 era, it crossed their minds that in life a human body requires food on daily basis for survival and as a result they saw a need to tap into farming sector in order to fight poverty, while also boosting their family earnings.

Chief Mosethe said although many people still consider farming to be low class work, they are unaware that investing in farming is the pillar of economic growth for the country, particularly by engaging solutions that can boost efficiency, sustainability and resilience in farming.
