Africa-PressLesotho. Making the first ever record of over 10 artists in an album, Harambee Global Records has last week released an album featuring 16+1 artists in Lesotho.

Harambee Global Recordsis a fully functional audio and visual recording studio that has been in existence for over 30 years. Upon interviewing the Co-producer, Production Manager and

one of the artists featured in the album, Lekaka Lekaka mentioned that it has managed to sign over 200 artists and recorded 80 of them. He said the Harambee 16 various artists Volume 1 features 16+1 of the very best artists

from its stable, who have recorded over the past year. “The collaborative album was an excellent idea from Harambee’s Executive Director Masitise Seleso.

The professionally replicated CD compilation was accomplished at a time when all else was impossible for the artists and business in general due to the Covid-19

pandemic,” Lekaka said. He further said the album consists of 17 songs, saying although the arts and entertainment industry has not quite recovered from the effects of the pandemic, the album is

in itself a testimony to the fact that everything is possible through hard work. Lekaka said he wants to acknowledge the Executive Producer and Founder as

well as the Harambee production team for pouring an enormous investment into the project. “Above everything else, it portrays the talent Lesotho has musically.

Secondly it gives hope and encouragement in these trying times. Our vision as Harambee Global Records is focused on human resource development in music, audio, visual

and other performing arts. It is our conviction that this will culminate in much transformation for a sustainable development and growth of this nascent

industry in Lesotho,” he noted. While many songs in the album have an Afrojazz or Afrosoul contemporary touch, the variety of artists that are featured bring out the diversity of talent that

Lesotho possesses. “What makes the album more relevant at this point in time is the fact that young and old talents have been compiled together under the very

able hands of talented producers at Harambee,” Lekaka made a highlight. Well-known artists such as Sipho Lukhele, Mongali Nthako, Tšitso G-Man Matsipa and Pitso Rah Makhula go back to back with the younger fresh

artists. The likes of LEKA, Nkosy James, Pat Matete, Tao Tash, Kamohelo Tshola (son of the legendary Tshepo Tshola), Tšitso Chalatsi, Wave Rhyder, C-Jo, Pkay ft Minister Spokes come in as some of the new

voices on the album. Lekaka also noted that the album has attracted the international recognition, saying a South Africa deejay expressed amazement at the sheer amount of talent on the

album and said the album will do well in South Africa and even internationally. All the 16 songs plus a bonus 17th track make the album a worthwhile possession for those who collect, love and support music by Lesotho artists.
