How to sell the ABC

Africa-Press – Lesotho. Many were furious when Muckraker said the All Basotho Confusion is a party led by clowns. Recent events however continued to vindicate Muckraker. Two of its leaders have contrived to stage another circus.
This time it’s about a billboard in Quthing. Kemiso Mosenene, the Minister of Water, is brawling with Lebohang ‘Mokhoenyana’ Hlaele over a campaign billboard.
Hlaele is angry that Mosenene and his constituency have erected an ABC billboard in Quthing. As Hlaele sees it, this is gross insubordination. He has ordered Mosenene and his people to take down the billboard and apologise.
Of course, his gripe is not that the billboard was erected without the executive committee’s permission. That is just something he is saying to sound organised.
His real beef is that the billboard doesn’t have Thabane’s face on it. Mosenene and his people have rightly shown Mokhoenyana the middle finger and told him to find somewhere else to play.
It’s a billboard for their party. They know what will get the Quthing people to vote for the ABC. If Hlaele has a problem with that he can create his own billboard.

Mokhoenyana should stop this business of barking orders at constituencies as if they are his backyard garden. That time has long passed. The party is now in a pool of confusion. Rather, he should be busy trying to save the party from yet another split.
But given the party’s precarious position, he should be thanking Mosenene and his people for sponsoring the billboard because there will not be many of those in the next election.
No sane person will sponsor the ABC’s campaign next year. The party has spent the past five years campaigning against itself. Mokhoenyana should make this campaign a free for all.
He must allow members to go on their rooftops and campaign for the ABC because it is going to be a hard sale. More like selling warm water at a market in the Kalahari.
As hard as making dreadlocks on a Chiskop. Mokhoenyana should allow the members to campaign their own way. They can catch a monkey, tie a yellow bandana on its head, take a picture and place it on a billboard.
Their message will be clear: the ABC is a party of monkey business. Get a pig, wrap it in a yellow blanket, take a picture and plonk it on a billboard.
The message: the ABC is a party that rolls in the mud like a pig and it’s a party that is about to roast in its own fat like a pig. Put the Feselady on a billboard with the words: “We will never do it again! We are sorry!”
Anything goes. Mokhoenyana should take a deep breath, drink some water and watch from a distance. The executive committee he says should lead the campaign is a figment of his imagination. Which executive committee? Is it from Makhoakhoeng or Qhobosheaneng? Let the confusion in the party confuse people to vote for it!
