Africa-Press – Lesotho. Italy’s communications watchdog has fined Alphabet Inc’s (GOOGL. O) YouTube and Amazon’s (AMZN. O) Twitch for allegedly breaching rules which ban gambling advertising in the country.

Youtube and Twitch were fined 2.25 million euros ($2.45 million) and 900,000 euros respectively, the AGCOM authority said, adding it had ordered the removal of more than 20,000 online videos promoting various types of gambling, including sports betting.

Both streaming services had commercial partnerships in place with video makers which published the content on their online platforms, according to AGCOM. The two companies had no immediate comment.
