Africa-Press – Lesotho. Juventus narrowly beat 10-man Lazio in an Italian Serie A match Saturday thanks to a late own goal.
Lazio defender Alessio Romagnoli was shown a red card in the first half for a foul on Juventus’ Pierre Kalulu.
Romagnoli made a sliding tackle on Kalulu but fouled him to deny an obvious goal-scoring chance.
Lazio played with 10 men for the remaining 70 minutes at Turin’s Allianz Stadium.
Juventus had many chances during the match but Lazio’s Spanish defender Mario Gila gifted the hosts three points near the end.
Turin club’s left-back Juan Cabal crossed the ball into the six-yard box but Gila, who failed to block it, scored a clumsy own goal in the 85th minute.
The hosts secured a narrow win.
In eight matches, Juventus boosted their points to 16 to reach the second position in the league led by Napoli, which have 16 points as well.
Fifth-place Lazio have 13 points.
Napoli will visit Empoli in a Sunday match.
Inter Milan, the defending Italian champions, will play against Roma on Sunday at Olimpico Stadium in Rome. Third-place Inter have 14 points.
