Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Kingdom of Lesotho is one of the African countries where she has conducted a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Matsépo-Molise Ramakoae. Both the counterparts hold the meeting in the capital of the country- Maseru.

During her official visit to the African countries, Kamina Johnson Smith- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, landed in the Kingdom of Lesotho on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

She is on tour to the different countries to promote herself as a perfect candidate for the post of Commonwealth Secretary-General (SG). The Kingdom of Lesotho is one of the African countries where she has conducted a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Matsépo-Molise Ramakoae.

Both the counterparts hold the meeting in the capital of the country- Maseru. The discussion featured multiple topics of bilateral and multilateral exchanges and various areas of concern.

She outlined that they have touched on areas of concern in the field of culture, education and youth. So, the prime focus of the meeting was the developmental strategies and agendas in the education, cultural and youth sector.

Kamina Johnson Smith noted, “Yesterday, after landing in the Kingdom of Lesotho, I met with the Min of FA and IR H. E. Matsépo-Molise Ramakoae in the capital, Maseru.
She expressed that both the countries shared a framework agreement to focus on strengthening bilateral ties.

While highlighting the key focus of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said, “We had good discussions on strengthening bilateral engagements through cooperation in culture as well as education and youth in respect of which of our countries already have a framework agreement.

” Meanwhile, Kamina emphasized that they have also discussed the vibrant engagement that Lesotho has with the Commonwealth.

She expressed, “We also discussed the very vibrant engagement which Lesotho has with the Commonwealth in areas of Parliamentary Reform, Electoral Reform and Anti Corruption Reforms – areas in which we agreed the has strong expertise and comparative advantage, and should accordingly always retain as a focus for building democratic institutional strength across its member states.

Besides this, Smith has also engaged and spoken with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr Jaishankar, after she left Lesotho. Both the delegations spoke about the historic visit of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind to Jamaica.

She said that it was good to speak this morning with India’s MAE, Dr Jaishakar, to discuss the upcoming historic visit by his President, as well as his campaign for the role of Commonwealth SG.
