Africa-Press – Lesotho. Bantu Football Club (FC) Head Coach Bob Mafoso has urged Bantu FC “A matšo Matebele” players to work hard in their first kickoff game against Kick4Life FC on Saturday.
The match will mark the start of the Vodacom Premier League 2020/2021 games. Mafoso, however confirmed with Informative Sport that the team is in form as far as fitness is concerned in spite of the hiccup by the Coronavirus
outbreak. He said the team started its preparations for the league some weeks back despite the absence of some players who were called in the senior national
team, Likuena. “Currently, among other issues that we have to manage as early as possible is fatigue and recovery since Bantu FC’s 6 players played about 4 intensive
games in the previous three weeks especially when we take into consideration that the team has to play four premier league games within 2 weeks,” he disclosed.
Concerning their first game with Kick4life FC, Mafoso said there is no easy game in the premier league and therefore Bantu will have to rise to the occasion.
He said Kick4Life mostly comprises of youthful players and play high quality intensive football at all times, “thus they are very active and more powerful in running so it is
never too easy to play with them,” “We played with Kick4Life FC for several times last season, they were much better so we have to anticipate that they might come back more improved this season.
Therefore, in terms of how they play, it’s a little bit difficult to say, we will have to wait and see. Otherwise, we cannot say much about the performance
of other clubs while they can say something about us as they have seen us play twice in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champion’s League, so for
us to win we have to be very persistent,” he said. Most teams have released players and signed new ones to reinforce their squads for the Vodacom Premier league 2020/2021 season.
Mafoso on the other hand stated that A matšo Matebele has signed new three players who were not part of the team that played in the CAF games due to their late arrival in the team.
However he noted that the players will be part of the team that will play against Kick4Life FC on Saturday. “The inclusion of these players in the league games at this time will help a lot in terms of
building a stronger and better team. We are trying to move away from the issue of fatigue and give players a chance to rest,” Mafoso revealed. The Head Coach further insisted that this season will be more difficult since Bantu FC is a target for all premier league football clubs as they are the reigning champions.
