Africa-Press – Lesotho. Kick4life held football open trail games to enrol players under all departments in their senior team. The trials were held at Kick4life ground last week.
As disclosed by Kick4life Head coach Motebang Makhetha, the purpose of the open trials was to test players aged 17-25 and pick those who are fit to be signed into the Kick4klife Senior team.
Makhetha stated that Kick4life is more concerned to scout the talent from young players that have no chance to be exposed on premier league teams due to lack of experience, adding that there
is a hidden talent to be discovered from those. Makhetha mentioned that they hold the trials to identify young natural talented players who have ball mastery and technical ability.
“Ball mastery technical ability include having a good touch and control as well as
good passing, dribbling, shooting, tackling and heading,” he explained and furthered that the technical ability of the player can differ with the position
and the role of the player in the pitch. He said they are looking for young players that have a decent touch and unique skills, noting that this will make
the work easier for technical team. “Kick4life will then introduce them to the style and the techniques of the team, and also equip them with relevant skills
on how to absorb pressure in the premier league, to make the whole team to be more competitive,” he added. From the players who showed up for trials, Makhetha said 20
were scouted. He said these are those who displayed the qualities that they were looking for. The final selection will be made this week as the team was
preparing for the resumption of Vodacom Premier League (VPL) games that started over the weekend. “We are looking forward to sign only eight players that will pass
the trials in order to enforce the team. We cannot set the mandate for the VPL second round since the team will be more focused on developing the team and introducing new players to our style of play,” said Makhetha.
