Africa-PressLesotho. Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Training Institute held a graduation ceremony for 43 staff members who completed four courses (physical training, map reading, trilling

and weapon training) on Friday. This comes after the institution re-evaluated courses offered by the school and saw the need to add new courses for advancement.

Officiating the ceremony, Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Commander Lieutenant General Mojalefa Letsoela congratulated the trainees for completing their training in the midst

of Covid-19. He said the instructors should advance their academic and educational qualification as a way of empowerment. Letsoela revealed that the relationship between the army and the public is getting stronger and he

foresees a great future. He officially handed over books that were donated by Britain to the school. “It is my pleasure to officiate this ceremony. I would like to congratulate the instructors

for completing the training in the middle of the pandemic, they should advance their military and academic education. I am excited to see the strong relationship between LDF and the public in the form of sponsors.

This is the beginning of the great future together,” said Letsoela. LDF Commandant Brigadier Naha Kolisang said that the graduation is a vision he had

for the school two years ago when he was given a task to improve the school. He added that he initiated the introduction of the four courses that would empower

the army with skills that will help them to be responsive to current and future security challenges. He further said he is confident that the instructors will

do an excellent job and see this as an opportunity for them to have in-house professionals replacing the retired ones. He concluded that the qualified

instructors will allow them to host team building exercises for their sponsors as it has been their wish. On behalf of his fellow instructors, Corporal Letsoela Mahao stated that education is a very important

tool, therefore, they should invest in it. He also thanked his trainers for the opportunity to advance their military education. Trainings were in a form of classes, presentations and physical exercises.

The instructors were awarded certificates, heckles and hampers from Standard Lesotho Bank. The theme of the ceremony was traditional, the attendees looked

stylish in their Seshoeshoe dresses and blankets with men in their traditional attires. The food corresponded well with the theme. The LDF Training Institute’s vision is to be a reputable and responsive training institute, fit enough to train LDF personnel to respond positively to current and future global security challenges.
