Africa-Press – Lesotho. It was a sorrowful moment for Likhopo supporters, the technical team as well as the players as their chance to escape the relegation zone vanished before their very eyes during their match against Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) at Ha Ratjomose, LDF ground yesterday.
This was the repeat of their Sunday match which was abandoned just before half time due to heavy rainfall. LDF brought excitement upon their supporters as they swiftly scored their first goal through their striker Katleho Makateng, putting LDF ahead with 1-0 against Likhopo in nine minutes.
Likhopo fought their way out to equalize by trying to score from a header that came from a corner kick but was cleared by LDF defender. Good changes were on LDF side as their winger Bonang Mohapi was denied a one-on-one with Likhopo goalkeeper Phasumane Kholuoe.
Likhopo displayed a very poor football play which eventually led to Mahooana Mashale and Mafa Mokhoele given yellow cards. Likhopo’s Forward Mokhothu Matooane was replaced by Moqolisi Mothae as he suffered a leg injury.
Meanwhile Likhopo winger Lehlohonolo Tšukulu leveled the score through a free kick just before half time. A few minutes after the second half, LDF Morena Moloi scored a second goal making it 2-1 against Likhopo. Leluma Posholi of Likhopo was later given a red card.
In his analysis, Likhopo Head Coach Halemakale Mahlala reported that his team played quite well given the fact that most of their players have other commitments that includes studying and working unlike LDF that had most of its players committed to full training.
“Absence of other players affects us mentally, but we will go back to our drawing board and fight until the last game,” Mahlaha concluded. Likhopo is currently on position 15 with 11 points on the log table.
