Learn about Menkhoaneng

Africa-Press – Lesotho. We are not going to celebrate the day of King Moshoeshoe I, it is better to know the history of where he came from. Mr Maloka Phamotse, a Sesotho teacher and teacher at Hlotse High School, tells us about Menkhoaneng.

And he puts it this way: Menkhoaneng is an area located in the Leribe district across the Hlotse River, near the Lentsoaneng cave. It was in this area that King Mokoteli established his village by ordering that a court be built with cedar bushes as he was the king.

Thamae’s son Thamae mocks his father’s court for being a Menkhoaneng Ha-Mopeli. The reason is that he did not get along with his father because of his statements, so this place of the king became famous in Menkhoaneng.

It was in Menkhoaneng that the founder of the Basotho community, King Moshoeshoe I. Mokoteli, died and was buried in the tribe of Levi’s Nek today. The Mokoteli dynasty is taken over by his son Thamae. Thamae later died and his kingship passed to his son Hlatane.

Although the myth does not say much about Hlatane and his mythology, it does warn that Hlatane died before he had children and as a result, his kingship fell to the family of Mokoteli’s older brother Motloang.

. Motloang died without an heir but his wife refused to be joined by Mokoteli, only opting to be joined by his former rapist friend ‘Mualle’.

It was ‘Mualle who gave birth to the heir to Motloang who was given the name Motsoane by Mokoteli. Since her father was speaking Sesotho and she did not know how to pronounce it correctly, ‘Mualle called her Peete.

On the other hand, Motsoane also became obsessed with the name Motsoane, but Peete. Peete gave birth to twin boys, Libe and Jewelry. She was convinced by the name of Mokhachane.

This name some say is because he had a fat belly; while others say it is because she once came to cuddle a baby boy that she gave to her husband Kholu to breastfeed and raise.

Therefore, Kholu wondered, and the general public wondered when Libenyane became ‘pregnant’. The baby was named after him. As it grew, it became popular with several other names (Tlaputle, Thesele, Pharu, Letlama, Nketuoamara, and Moshoeshoe).

The dust is dust. These are due to their thinness. Pharu because of his height; when he left it was as if he were going to a riot. Pharu’s long name spread to him. Weed is its class name meaning the binding or binding.

Moshoeshoe is due to the looting of Ramonaheng’s cattle which Letlama said he had shaved Ramonaheng’s beard shoe! shoe! He also said that if they do not set up a tent, they will set up a future.

Here he was comparing that he had made me that Ramonaheng all his cattle and if he would be re-acquired, he would be re-acquired next year. It was King Moshoeshoe who had the dream of establishing a nation, for he was the next king of the masses.

This Menkhoaneng area still exists today. The ruins of King Moshoeshoe are still standing, and the cemetery is still visible today. A cave in the mountain is still standing where the elderly, women and children and even cattle were buried during the war.

The wells that supplied water to the people at that time, are still in existence today, and among them can be identified the ‘Blue Fountain’ whose water was said to have been used extensively for military medicine.

It is a well that had patterns. When the enemy came, they had the means to predict. The people knew what they were looking for when the rain came or when there would be no war.

When the rain came it would form a mist. The people knew that if they did not create such a fog, then it would rain. Truly, it is a fountain of good luck; it is good. However, this site is only left with no security or upgrades. The local chief is Ms ‘Masempe Selebalo who is holding her son Sempe Selebalo.
