Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) has held a seminar for the secretary generals of its National Federations (NFs), focusing on the topics of corporate governance and administrative development.

A total of 30 secretary generals from sports across the country attended this, with the event being opened by the principal secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Gender Sports and Recreation in Lesotho, Mamoeketsi Ntho.

In her speech, Ntho said sport can be used to stop harassment, gender-based violence, abuse and human trafficking. “Undertaking a 360 Performance Assessment of the SG Office” was the theme of the seminar, which aimed at finessing the structure of NFs.

The second day of the seminar, the principles of corporate governance was discussed, followed by a brain challenge and programming section led by the Olympafrica Youth Ambassador Program.

Economist Maoala Khesa, from the Department of Planning and Policy Analysis oversaw a section related to the “Importance of Monitoring and Evaluation”, with risk and compliance officer at the Petroleum Fund of Lesotho, Atang Nchoba, following up with a risk and compliance speech related to sports administration.

To conclude the day, NF secretary generals participated in a panel discussion about “repositioning” the sporting landscape in Lesotho. Lesotho has never won an Olympic medal.
