Health Minister Semano Sekatle today launched a digital Covid-19 test certificate dubbed the Trusted Travel Certificate that will be officially in use on August 1, 2021 as part of efforts to facilitate international requirements where tourists should be Covid-free and must produce factual certificates before entering a different state.

This certificate comes under a new system by the African Union (AU) and the African Centre of Disease Control (ACDC) to facilitate travel and tourism in the post-Covid era.

Sekatle also indicated that starting from August 1st all testing centres will provide certificates digitally and a link to access results will be send to the public via email and or SMS.

He added that in a case where a tested individual does not have a cellphone or cannot access the Internet, a print out of the certificate will be issued to them but it will still have a code.

“The codes are very important; no person will be allowed entry into any state if their Covid 19 certificates do not have a code,” he said.
