Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Minister of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, Mr. Lebona Lephema, is representing Lesotho at the Global Refugee Forum (GRF) Progress Review being held in Geneva, Switzerland, from December 15 to 17.
The Progress Review brings together governments and representatives of key stakeholder groups to assess advancements made towards achieving the objectives of the Global Compact on Refugees.
In his statement, Minister Lephema reaffirmed the Government of Lesotho’s unwavering commitment to playing its part and working collaboratively with partners to build a future in which every displaced person has access to protection, opportunities to rebuild their lives, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to national development.
He further presented an update on Lesotho’s progress in implementing the four pledges announced at the 2019 and 2023 Global Refugee Forums, alongside other key national developments in refugee protection and management.
On the margins of the conference, the Minister is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with various stakeholders to strengthen cooperation and partnerships.
The Progress Review allows participating states to report on the implementation of pledges made at the 2023 Global Refugee Forum, as well as outstanding commitments from the inaugural Forum held in 2019.
