Africa-PressLesotho. Lesotho Post Bank has partnered with a money transfers company, Mukuru Africa in a deal that will see South African based Basotho easily transferring money to Lesotho free of charge to their loved ones while the receivers will withdraw it from the bank. This was announced at the joint press conference by Lesotho Post Bank and Mokuru at Post bank premises on Tuesday.

Teboho Faba, head of infrastructure and maintenance at Lesotho Post bank said the relationship has long been planned but delayed by the fact that Central Lesotho Bank (CBL) had to do their researches and go through all procedures to ensure that the initiative or relations was in all the ways for the benefit of Basotho and the country’s economic growth.

He maintained that trainings on the use of Mukuru have been held for the bank’s staff; therefore they are ready for Basotho to start using it any time.

Faba went on to state that the relationship is going to ensure efficiency, timeliness and safety in the provision of services to Basotho. He said clients will no longer have to join long queues to withdraw money from South Africa, at the banks.

He highlighted that the initiative is one of the steps that Lesotho Post Bank is taking towards general inclusion of Basotho in financials so they could contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Meanwhile, Mukuru Africa head of marketing Mrs. Nthabiseng Makgatho also expressed the company’s gratitude for the partnership with Lesotho Post Bank. She said this will come in handy in helping to connect South African based Basotho to their loved ones back home financially, easier than before.

She highlighted that this is just the first phase of the marital relationship between this two companies whereby funds will only be transferred from Mukuru’s original countries into Lesotho and not vice-versa. She however noted that the second phase will come whereby even out of Lesotho to South Africa, the money will be send through Mukuru.
