Africa-Press – Lesotho. THE Lesotho Post Bank (LPB) spent over M100 000 to renovate the hall at St Barnabas High School in Rothe. Post Bank CEO, Molefi Leqhaoe, said this at the official opening of the refurbished hall last Saturday.
Leqhaoe said the initiative is part of the bank’s nationwide campaign to give back to communities that have been supportive of the bank. “Our main focus is on schools, to try and meet some of their urgent needs,” Leqhaoe said.
He said schools sent applications to the bank requesting assistance. Wetsi Lebuso, Principal at St Barnabas, said it has been their wish to renovate the hall but the school never had enough money for the project.
“This hall is of great importance not only to the school but to the area at large as it hosts a lot of events,” Lebuso said. He said the hall is often rented out for conferences, memorial services and other events.
“As it is, the hall has been booked for the memorial service of our Chief (Bereng Mohalefi Bereng, who will be buried this Saturday),” Lebuso said. He said now that the Post Bank has chipped in, the school will now use money raised from hosting events to spruce up the hall every year.
