Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho has shared its investment opportunities during the largest exhibition event in the world – DUBAI Expo 2020, which started in October. This event is a unique
platform for experience exchange, effective networking and the variety of events involves a lot of private and state business leaders. Unfolding Lesotho’s
exciting investment opportunities and revealing development activities across different sectors, the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture Hon.
Ntlhoi Motsamai said Lesotho is fully focused on strengthening her position as an export led economy by developing futuristic policies that create conducive
business environment. “We have recently launched December 2020 Expo strategy that will assist in boosting exports and enhance participation of Lesotho companies
in the global markets. It will also be instrumental in` opening more opportunities for investments to Lesotho. These initiatives emanate from the Lesotho’s National Strategic Development Plan II (NSDP II), highlighting
Agriculture and Agro processing, tourism and creative industries as well as technology and innovation as key priorities,” Motsamai explained. She further noted that
Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC), as the national trade investment promotion agency, was led on the presentation session under the theme ‘Lesotho rising to prosperity’.
Motsamai said the forum provided an overview on Lesotho’s performance as a trade partner to the rest of the world, saying she has the potential to reach
the world markets through various regional and international trade agreement that she is a party to, therefore this makes her a suitable investment destination that will benefit from significant market access, which is also ready
to be tabbed in a wide range of product lines. This platform provides a good occasion for prospective investors to explore the available opportunities.
“I am hopeful that by being with us today you are considering Lesotho as an investment destination of
choice, I greatly encourage business to business engagements between potential investors and the Lesotho private sector community participating at this Expo,”
Motsamai commanded. Motsamai stated that it is a privilege to be part of the stage where countries exhibit creative innovation capabilities that enable them to champion suitability and experience how
humanity can enjoy living in harmony with nature in a high tech future. She also noted that innovation and technology rank high in Lesotho’s Agenda 2030, she said this is evident in
their innovation and technology programs by Lesotho’s institutions of higher learning, which are developing products that provide solutions to many challenges faced by Basotho.
“Our ambition is to improve and expand the country’s ability to create and make use of new scientific discoveries to develop innovative product services and business models with joined efforts by all relevant stakeholders,” Motsamai explained.
