Africa-PressLesotho. Lesotho is ambitious to stage Miss University Africa (MUA) between September 2019 and September 2020. MUA is an annual international beauty pageant organized by Visions, Innovations and Concepts founded by businessman Taylor Nazzal.

MUA winner receives US$50,000 (estimated M694 000) in endorsement deals, a new car and becomes a United Nations Students’ Ambassador. First held in 2010, it is a non-bikini and swimsuit event meant to celebrate beauty with brains; discourage indecent dressing; uplift education thereby promoting tourism and discovering distinctive potentials of youths.

Beauty Pageant Association (BPA) of Lesotho chairperson Mr Tlali Tlali, telephonically told Informative Newspaper that they are already soliciting funds for the first international beauty pageant to evolve on Lesotho soil.

At the moment, BPA Lesotho is busy working on conducting Miss Lesotho 2019. Mr Tlali said 24 smart ladies have already registered for the 02 March 2019 event.

The requirements, amongst others, are that contesting ladies should be unmarried and not to have born a child. They should be aged 17 to 26 and matriculated with good English language command.

On Sunday, they will be at a hotel for a video promotion shoot towards the mobilization of the pageant. So far the registered come from Thaba-Tseka, Botha-Bothe, Mohale’s Hoek, Mafeteng and Maseru.

Registration ends early February 2019. Before the commencement of the pageant on the set date’s evening, there will be a business exhibition from 0900hrs to promote small holders.

He revealed that chief in her plate of duties, Miss Lesotho will engage in humanitarian projects and generate funds for the Miss World logistics. Miss Lesotho automatically represents Lesotho at Miss World. The currently reigning Miss Lesotho is Ms Rethabile Thaathaa.
