Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho and Zambia meet for the second time in four days in the 2023 Africa Cup of Countries qualifiers as they clash at the Dobsonville Arena in nonpartisan Johannesburg, South Africa, on Sunday.
The Copper Bullets won their matchup on Thursday with a 3-1 comeback victory. Tshwarelo Bereng gave the Crocodiles the lead in the 33rd minute, but Fashion Sakala scored an equalizer for the hosts just four minutes later.
Zambia consolidated their position at the top of Group H with a quick-fire brace from Lameck Banda in the second half. With six points from three games, Avram Grant’s team is ahead of Ivory Coast, who are two points behind them in second, and a win this week would bring the Zambians closer to direct qualification.
With the possible exception of Banda playing in place of Kennedy Musonda in the wings after his heroics off the bench on Thursday, Grant isn’t likely to make many changes to his XI.
With just one point, Lesotho remains rooted to the bottom of the standings, further jeopardizing their chances of qualifying for the tournament. Veselin Jelusic could bring in Jane Thabantso, who has scored 11 goals in 68 games, to energize his team, with Tsepo Toloane retaking his midfield position.
