Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Minister of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ms. Nthati Moorosi said the Government has made a deliberate decision to place technology and innovation at the Centre of the national development agenda.

This she said at a press briefing preceding the Commonwealth Digital Roadshow to be held in Maseru.

Ms. Moorosi stated that in 2024, Lesotho launched a national vision to modernize the country through digital solutions aimed at improving service delivery, strengthening the economy and creating meaningful opportunities for its people.

She added that hosting the Commonwealth Digital Roadshow is a significant milestone for Lesotho, as it positions the country as a leader in digital transformation within the region and provides a platform to share experiences and learn from other Commonwealth nations.

The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO), through its Secretary General Ms. Bernadette Lewis has applauded Lesotho for digitizing services across several government ministries, describing the move as a strong step towards building an inclusive digital economy.

In her response to some of the questions and answers, Ms. Lewis noted that Lesotho’s efforts to digitize public services demonstrate commitment to innovation and improved service delivery.

She emphasized that such initiatives are key in ensuring that no country is left behind in the global digital transformation.

She further highlighted that while infrastructure and policy frameworks are important, the success of digital transformation ultimately depends on citizens.

She encouraged Basotho to actively embrace digital platforms to fully benefit from the services being roll.

Lesotho has been focusing on integrating technology into its national development agenda, particularly since launching its digital vision in 2024. This initiative aims to modernize public services and create economic opportunities through digital solutions.
