Africa-Press – Lesotho. LETSHEGO Financial Services in partnership with Alliance Insurance Company on Tuesday launched a new, affordable funeral insurance product called Sekhele Funeral Plan.

Clients will be expected to pay a monthly premium of between M41 and M103 with the maximum claim of up to M100 000. Its member only options require a monthly premium of between M56 and M188 for a comprehensive family plan.

The basic funeral insurance cover offering of Sekhele is categorised between bronze, silver, gold and platinum options. Each basic cover option includes a premium cash-back benefit, free accidental death benefit, a premium waiver on death or disability or retrenchment of the main member and airtime.

Thabo Sebetoane, the product director, said Sekhele covers every member of the family even extended family members from the age of 18 to 84. The comprehensive family plan covers the main member, their spouse and ex-spouse, a maximum of seven children, parents and grandparents including in-laws and a maximum of four extended family members.

“Sekhele Funeral Plan offers additional benefits such as educator that pays up to three children under 25 years that pays up to M25 000, tombstone benefit up to M15 000, body repatriation benefit of up to M50 000, cow benefit of up to M10 000, My Provider to cover groceries, rent and costs,” Sebetoane said.

“We also have a paid up benefit (’Mampoli) that enables members covered under Sekhele to stay covered even after the principal member has passed away,” he said.

The waiting period under Sekhele is three months for people aged 65-years and below, six months for people between 65 and 72-years and nine months for people between 72 and 84-years.

Sebetoane said their partnership with Alliance does not stop people with policies from Alliance from taking the Sekhele Funeral Plan. “Alliance is very proud to collaborate on this product with a company respected for its professionalism as Letshego,” the Alliance Insurance Company head, Mahlohonolo Lebina said.

Lebina said they are proud to be associated with Sekhele, a product that offers more options for Basotho to protect themselves and their loved ones in the event of a bereavement.

Selloane Tsike, the Letshego CEO, said the Sekhele Funeral Plan is the result of their continuing commitment to develop innovative solutions that increase value for their customers in ways that also create a positive social impact for communities.

She said Basotho covered under the funeral plan are assured for after-life arrangements that enable them to make preparations towards their own funerals.

“Our efficient partnership with Alliance Insurance Company enables fast turnaround times to expedite claims processing to quickly offer empathetic support to grieving family members during times of bereavement and loss,” Tsike said.

Sekhele covers funeral expenses in line with the customer’s preference, cushioning policyholders’ families from the typical financial burden associated with providing loved ones a dignified funeral at the time of bereavement.
