Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho’s very own Bofihla ‘Neko, popularly known as Lilaphalapha announced he will soon take up a guest role on Mzanzi Magic’s telenovela, The River on Monday.
In an interview with Arts&Lifestyle, ‘Neko mentioned that he received a phone call, when he was driving home from work, from the casting director of the
show, who asked him if he was interested to perform a gangster part on the river. Lilaphalapha grabbed the opportunity with both hands because he thought
he would become an inspiration to his fellow actors who are still struggling to make ends meet in Lesotho. He said it is not about the money but about him
showcasing his talent. “Well, I am a veteran in this acting thing so you give me a part and I marvel it to oblivion,” said ‘Neko in his emphasis that he
is not afraid to give it a shot. In this series ‘Neko will be playing as the right hand man to a character called Kabo, a diamond smuggler and they are all
part of a ruthless gang. In a recent video posted on his Facebook page, ‘Neko said he is in South Africa (SA) shooting a scene on the series he mentioned that it is a beautiful and fun
experience to be on set, he also wished the government of Lesotho would invest more on their actors and provide a budget for such beautiful shows like The
River. However, ‘Neko made it clear that this is a temporary role. He still has his position at Lesotho Flower Mills and his own company to run. ‘Neko acknowledged the amazing
support from Basotho. The River is an award winning South African telenovela created by Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon. It is an M-Net original production produced by Tshedza
Pictures for Digital Satellite Television (Dstv) general entertainment subscription channel 1Magic. From 2019, it began airing on Mzansi Magic, broadcasting weekdays from Monday to Friday at 19:00pm. In 2021, the series lead Sindi Dlathu was announced as co-executive producer for the show’s fourth season.
