Africa-Press – Lesotho. Limomonane Products Pty Ltd, a fruit production company in collaboration with the Ministry of Forestry and Land Conservation, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mamoth Lesotho, Keep Lesotho Clean, Conservation Music Lesotho and Osmium launched the tree planting season with a massive plantation of 3000 trees through the financial support of the United States African Development Foundation (USADF). The initiative was also made successful through the help of villagers of Ha-Raliemere, Ha-Isaka and Ha Lebete in the district of Mafeteng.

Limomonane Products Pty Ltd Managing Director (MD) Lipuo Nkholi said fruit trees are beneficial for food security. She said the initiative will also help them sustain their fruit-processing company saying it has always been their dream to have an orchard. “We are excited to be part of this initiative that does not only promote food security but also empowers rural communities,” said Nkholi.

She also urged the public to not overlook the effects of climate change and strive to minimize pollution. In an exclusive interview with Informative Newspaper Ha-Raliemere Community Counselor, ‘Macolese Setaki said “the project is an employment opportunity to our community. She mentioned that 12 youth have been

permanently hired to take full responsibility of the project. Keep Lesotho Clean Co-founder Likeleli Monyamane said their contribution in the project was to ensure that the place is left clean without disposed materials from food and unpacking of the trees. She said using dust bins and supporting initiatives

that are mandated with environmental health is key to a clean world. She added that some materials are not easily degradable, thereby affecting the growth of plants by being toxic to the soil. She insisted, “Planting trees needs to be supported with other cleaning measures for their survival”.
