LIPHOLO GRANTED BAIL

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The High Court of Lesotho, through Justice Maliepollo Makhetha, on Monday granted bail of M10,000 with a surety of M100,000 to Basotho Covenant Movement (BCM) leader Dr Ts’epo Lipholo, who is accused of misusing his position to confuse and divide the Basotho nation and to violate the dignity and reputation of the royal family and His Majesty.

While re-applying for bail, Advocate Rants’iuoa Lesenyeho, representing the petitioner, told the court that a new condition had emerged, as Dr Lipholo had developed chronic illnesses, including arthritis. He said the prison environment was not conducive to his health.

He further stated that Dr Lipholo requires home based treatment because under prison regulations, inmates are locked in their cells for certain hours. He added that Lipholo also suffers from shortness of breath and that his condition had previously deteriorated to the extent that he could not even speak or shout.

Advocate Lesenyeho told the court that proper medical care would be available if he is treated at home noting that the doctor had indicated that Lipholo’s health condition is worsening daily.
