Africa-Press – Lesotho. -The 3rd annual Lesotho spring conference which seeks to sensitize artists on the business side of their career will take place tomorrow at the State Library as organized by Lesotho Music Rights Association (LMRA).
This is according to LMRA president, Mr Sechaba Mokoqo speaking in an exclusive interview with Informative Newspaper. The conference is also meant to bring artistes closer to what the global markets are as far as the business in music is concerned.
Towards the success of the conference, there will be songwriters, composers, producers, authors, publishers, record labels, dancers and performers. While the guest speakers will be the likes of Karabo Motijane from Sheer Publishing, Seabelo Modibe from Botswana, Sina Moshito from South Africa, and LMRA’s President Mr.
Sechaba Mokoqo. “It is a special one this year because for the first time the gazette has been issued that will see the board of the collective management organization being announced and as a result, the journey of collection of royalties will start soon.
The theme for this year is, “re hetla morao” time to reflect and celebrate our heroes who started when there were no royalties,” he continued. He said the initiative has grown significantly with time as the music exhibitions will be taking place for the first time.
This he said is whereby artists from Lesotho will be performing and showcasing their talents. Mokoqo went on to cite that the exhibitions will open doors for local artistes considering that the event will be graced by music market creators from South Africa, eSwatini, and Namibia who will be observing closely what Lesotho can offer that they can take home. This he noted to be an opportunity to expose local talent to global markets.
