Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho Netball Association (LNA) and Lesotho Table Tennis Association (LeTTA) held their Annual General Meetings (AGM’s) and polls at Setsoto Stadium on Saturday.
LNA Public Relations Officer (PRO) Media Telang Machela in an exclusive interview with Informative Sport on Monday indicated that LNA held the AGM and polls after exceeding 3 years’ term and a couple of months.
“The purpose was to present the previous years’ association reports.
The committee was supposed to be elected last year but elections were held back due to the emergence of Covid-19 pandemic which restrained meetings,” he stated.
Machela showed that as the new committee, they have to strengthen netball sport and its administration in the country because most of the elected members are young and ambitious.
“We have to ensure that the adjustments start on the grass roots level.
Due to the country’s financial constraints, players will volunteer to join in and as soon as there are players, the competitions will be held and then we could make an effort to travel across each district observing and grooming the talents,” he noted.
Machela added that there are alterations made on some of the positions that formed a newly elected committee. ”In this committee, most of the elected affiliates were the members in the outgoing committee, while some of them filled the positions of the resigned members,” he said. Machela enlightened that the changes appeared only on the position of the President, Secretary General, Vice Secretary General and PRO Media.
LNA new National Executive Committee (NEC) comprise of the President ‘Mamotšabi Lekhabunyane, Vice President Lineo Palime, Secretary General Tanki Motšoane, Treasure Keketso Mokitimi, PRO Marketing Liphapang Masoetsa, PRO Media Telang Machela, Development Director Munyaradzi Shanduka, North Representative Nokwanele Yengani, Central Representative ‘Matšepo ‘Musi and South Representative Anna Shale.
On the other hand, LeTTA PRO Thato Mathibeli told Informative Sport that LeTTA holds an AGM every year and polls after 4 years. She said an AGM is a platform for review and presentation of reports from the previous years, which also creates a room for identification of areas that require certain improvement.
Mathibeli revealed that she was re-elected to take part in the new committee and most of the new members in the current committee were the members of the previous committee.
“We are still continuing with our plans, we don’t think that new affiliates can oppose what we had already planned,” she said.
Furthermore, Mathibeli stated that even though the affiliates who were also part of the outgoing committee dominates in the newly elected committee; there are some alterations on the position of Vice President and Vice Secretary.
LeTTA new NEC stands as follows: President Chabeli Mohatlane, Vice President Malatola Phothane, Secretary General Tholang Tohlang, Vice Secretary Kamohelo Seaka, Treasure Thabo Tikoe, PRO Thato Mathibeli, Members Khomo Joo, Lepeli Sello and Reitumetse Maome and Players Representative Themba Talane.
