Africa-Press – Lesotho. Although Lesotho National Federation of Organizations of the Disabled (LNFOD) welcomes the government declaration on youth unemployment as the state of emergency, it has called on the government to include 10 percent of youth with disabilities in employment opportunities in all sectors.
LNFOD Executive Director Mr. Rabasotho Moeletsi told the Agency in an interview that persons with disabilities continue to be excluded in job opportunities and other community developments, saying the Disability Equity Bill emphasizes need to protect persons with disabilities from discrimination in employment and other issues.
He cited that youth with disabilities stand 0 percent chances of being employed in security agencies, making an example of recent youth employment opportunities at the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF).
He therefore urged the government to specify the number of youths with disabilities who will be employed in the 62, 000 long-term, short-term and mid-term jobs promised to Basotho.
