Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho Volleyball Association (LVA) elected a new Executive Committee during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) that was held at Setsoto Stadium on Sunday.
The newly elected LVA Vice President Masoli Khoanyane told Informative Sport on Monday that the meeting was scheduled for February 28th 2021 but was postponed to March 14th 2021.
“The core mandate of the conference was on the volleyball related issues and presentation of the financial reports
by LVA Interim President who took the office after the resignation of LVA President Advocate Mpho Phalime last year, as deemed by the LVA constitution.
Phalime was later elected as a Zone VI second member Gender Minority position in the Executive Committee of Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB),” he said.
Khoanyane revealed that the main objective of the elected committee is to develop volleyball sport country wide. “To achieve this, we will develop volleyball
starting from the grassroots level which is in the primary and high school levels. The trained LVA referees and coaches will be responsible for scouting
the player’s talent and reveal the most required physical appearances in volleyball like height,” Khoanyane said. He showed that the President has shown that the committee will also present its plans
before sports mother bodies – the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC) and Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) – to overhear what they
expect from them in order to improve volleyball sport in the country. He said after 100 days’ time period, the committee will call a special AGM and present
the appreciated proposal before its members. Khoanyane announced the newly elected committee lead by the President Lehloohonolo Ncheke (Unopposed), the position of Vice President Administrator (Admin) is occupied
by Masoli Khoanyane, Vice President Finance ‘Mathato Machela, Vice President Technical Tanki Nkaki, General Secretary (SG) Sebolelo Ntlhokoe and the first
and the second members Mooka Tšoeu and Kananelo Hanyane (Unopposed). He indicated that the position of the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Vice Secretary General and the third member are the 3 positions which were not
contested for. “These positions are now under the supervision of the committee to decide on how to be filled according to LVA constitution. The previous LVA Executive Committee members were Hlapane Tshehlo (President),
Letsatsi Ntsibolane (Vice President Finance), Tlhoriso Makenete (Vice President Technical), Sebolelo Ntlholokoe (Secretary General), Masoli Khoanyane (Vice
Secretary General), Buller Phalatse (Public Relations Officer), Lehloa Ramotšo (1st Member), Kananelo Hanyane (2nd Member) and ‘Mamokete Raselemane (3rd
Member) LVA SG Sebolelo Ntlhokoe when giving out her opinion on being reappointed, she said, “With this new assignment, I am ready to improve the association’s progress.
As a newly elected LVA committee we are going to have a meeting, where we will share new concepts and deliberate on how to move the association forward”.
