Africa-Press – Lesotho. Afro Jazz artist Mohlahli Mahloane has announced the release of his upcoming debut album ‘Sekoele’ which will be released by the end of this month. Mahloane said the album entails 12 songs which reminds
the Basotho nation to prioritize and preserve their culture. The Roma born artist indicated that he joined the music industry in 2001 singing Kwaito and
house but things changed in 2016 when he then ventured into Afro Jazz under Lithuoamajoe Entertainment Group. Since 2016 he has been able to release three singles, the latest being ‘Ka hlakana hlooho’ which
he publicized in December 2020. Reviewing his music journey, Mahloane related that he developed the love for music from a very tender age, as he engaged with
other children at the Sunday school. He said he also inherited the gift from his mother. “To gain my momentum, I follow legends like Tšepo Tšola, Sipho Sithole, Bob Marley and Letsema Matšela.
They inspire me to keep pushing in the music industry despite the many challenges that I come across,” he said. Among his remarkable records, Mahloane collaborated
with Spinazoo back in 2001, then best known for Kwaito tunes. The two were invited for People’s Choice (PC) FM’s anniversary in 2004. The invitation played a huge role in his publicity and motivated him to work even harder.
“For people who would like to be in the music
industry, the most important key elements they should have is love, commitment and knowing exactly what they want. The industry needs someone who has patience
and love for his talent so that they get what they aspire for,” he advised. He said his wish for Lesotho’s music industry is that it builds studios which will enable upcoming artists to reveal their talents at a more resourceful environment that will also motivate them to do better.
