Africa-Press – Lesotho. Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr. Motlatsi Maqelepo has spearheaded the nation’s bicentennial celebrations, with a fun walk from Lits’oeneng to DIFA stadium.

Mr. Maqelepo stated that this year marks 200 years since King Moshoeshoe 1 founded Basotho, following his departure from Butha-Buthe to Thaba-Bosiu in 1824, noting Basotho should use these celebrations to look back to where the nation comes from, as well as where it is going.

He further stated that had it not been for King Moshoeshoe 1, Basotho’s nation would exist, and embraced the type of peace the latter had for everyone around him, not Basotho only, hence his statements regarding peace are still being used to date.

Mr. Maqelepo however, strongly rebuked criminal activities which seem to be spiraling out of control especially brutal killings, stating that was not how the founder of Basotho lived.
