Africa-Press – Lesotho. Team Nigeria’s representative in the men’s 400m hurdles at ongoing African Championship, Rilwan Alowonle has come to say he is “disappointed” with his performance in heat 2 of the event.

Alowonle who was in a good position to end the race in a high tripped and fell while trying to scale the last hurdle. The Nigerian still ensured he finished the race to the cheering and applause of the spectators after he picked himself up.

Alowonle took to his Twitter handle to express his disappointment after the race that saw him left out of the remaining events, “I don’t have any good words to explain how disappointed I am with myself on my performance yesterday.

“I let myself and those who support me down. I never expect to fall in a race, but when it happens all I can do is get up and try to learn from it. ” He tweeted Team Nigeria are joint third on the medals table with Algeria, both countries are tied on number of gold medals – 4 and total number of medals -7.
