Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Mr. Lira Moeti says starting on Wednesday, July 12, all events leading to His Majesty King Letsie III’s 60th jubilee will be broadcast live.
He said this at a press conference on Tuesday. The objective of the press conference was to share build-up activities leading to His Majesty’s 60th diamond era.
He said it is the role of the MICSTI along with media stakeholders to ensure that Basotho view, listen and read about all national matters affecting them hence these activities will be broadcast live on both radio and Lesotho television.
“There will also be a free feed to be offered to private media for publicity purposes and this will be arranged accordingly,” Mr. Moeti said. Sharing activities ahead of the big day, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, Mr.
Tumelo Raboletsi said on Wednesday (July 12, 2023) His Majesty will give awards to deserving Basotho nationals including members of armed forces at the Royal Palace in Maseru.
He added that on Sunday, July 16, 2023, there will also be a Special Mass Service in Matsieng which will be followed by another celebration event at Matsieng playground, saying there shall also be fireworks demonstrations.
Talking about the actual day of the celebration thus July 17, Mr. Raboletsi said this event will be led by the Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL) with a prayer service at Setsoto Stadium in Maseru, adding that there are several activities lined-up for gracing this day. He, therefore, appealed to the nation to join His Majesty and his family in celebrating this blessing.
