Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Limpho Tau has refuted allegations that the purchase of some grains by the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) has ceased as it has already received enough.

This he said in the National Assembly on Thursday after Qacha’s Nek Member of Parliament Mr. Mohlahlobi Busa stood on point of order asking the Minister to clarify some issues in the statement he delivered earlier this week, regarding the purchase of grains.

Mr. Tau said the above is not true as the purchase of grains will commence on Monday next week until Friday, clarifying that DMA does not have enough money to buy all grains but will ensure all farmers have an opportunity to sell their grains based on crop forecast.

“DMA is not a farmers market but buys grains based on the Lesotho Vulnerability Assessment Committee ( LVAC) study,” he clarified, stressing that production has increased in recent years unlike in 2023 when DMA bought great quantities as production was low.
