Africa-Press – Lesotho. Only one day is left before Lesotho’s 2018 beauty Queen, Ms Rethabile Thaatha jets off to China where she will battle it out with 119 other beauty queens from different countries in the global beauty showpiece.
The 68th edition of the Miss World pageant is scheduled to take place in Sanya, China on December 8, 2018 where Manushi Chhillar from India will crown her successor at the end of the event.
Thaatha was crowned Miss Lesotho in December 2017, taking the crown from Miss Lesotho 2017, Mpoi Mahao. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Informative Arts & Lifestyle Thaata expressed her delight to take part in this year’s Miss World, dubbing it a lifetime experience.
Although not ready enough due to spending a lot of her time outsourcing sponsorship while she should have been preparing, she says she remains optimistic that her presence in China will represent Lesotho with dignity.
At the time of the interview (Friday), Thaatha had not acquired even a single sponsor despite having started a while back in their pursuit. As a result she was not yet sure whether she was still going to participate in the pageant.
This she referred to as the main stumbling block in her preparations of the global showpiece. “I have a potential attire sponsor from South Africa who just wanted to confirm that I was really going to Miss world by looking me up on the event website but didn’t find me because I hadn’t registered yet,” she continued
Her challenges however, were addressed at the last minute during the weekend when she communicated confirmation of a sponsor for the trip to Informative Arts & Lifestyle.
She will be leaving for China this Thursday. She expressed her relief citing that she was then shifting her focus to preparations for the trip and working on few aspects of her skills and physique.
Thaatha emphasized that had she had a manager, things would have been different for her as she would have had time to prepare fully as a model while the manager sourced sponsors and other pressing logistics.
The finals of the competition are set to take place on the 8th December but before that, models will be competing in several stages of the competition, building up to the crowning on the final day.
