Africa-Press – Lesotho. Likuena defender Motlomelo Mkhwanazi is set to undergo a surgery after suffering a facial injury from an aerial collision with Eswatini captain Sabelo Ndzinisa during the second of the friendly matches against Eswatini last Saturday.

The length of time Mkhwanazi has to spend on the side-lines, if there is any, will only be known after the operation. Upon arrival in Lesotho, the player was taken for further medical tests in Bloemfontein by the Lesotho Football Association (LEFA) to establish the seriousness of the suspected nasal fracture.

It is possible he may miss Lesotho’s clash with Comoros on June 17 at Orlando Stadium if he does not make a full recovery by then. Before taking on Comoros, Likuena will play Togo in a friendly match for the first time in Johannesburg.

Like Likuena, Togo are preparing to face Eswatini in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on June 18 at Mbombela Stadium. Even though Lesotho no longer has a chance of qualifying for the AFCON next year, they still have to play Ivory Coast after Comoros and after that they will be heading to the Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup in Durban, South Africa.

Katleho Makateng was not part of the team that travelled to Eswatini last weekend for family reasons but he is expected to be available against Togo this weekend.

Motebang Sera started training with the team last week and travelled to Eswatini while Tshwarelo Bereng was still nursing a minor injury. Tšepang Sefali is another player who suffered an injury against Eswatini but it was nothing serious and he is expected to be available against Togo and Comoros. Likuena head coach Veselin Jelusic has not announced his final squad for the games yet.
