Major League Basketball (MLB) playoffs were prosperous on Saturday at Ha Ratjomose, Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) courts where four teams; Razzmatazz, Simply Talent, KTA All-stars and Shooting Rifles locked horns to win the playoffs and proceed to the semi-finals. Simply Talent whipped Razzmatazz to the core with the score of 60:36 while KTA All Stars won 56:44
against Shooting Riffle during the games that took place in the afternoon the same day. MLB first round results are as follows; Major League Basketball Log as at 01 May 2022; Simply Talent is on 1st position,
2nd KTA All-star, 3rd Shooting Rifles and on the 4th position is Razzmatazz. Major League
basketball was established in 2020 during the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic but became active later this year and it is the league which include players who
are former executives and administrators of basketball. MLB’s establishment was to bring basketball excitement, discipline and oneness among player due to quarrels
and division that previously erupted among them. Above all, the aim was to prevent people more especially youth from engaging in drugs through their involvement
in sports. The first MLB leg was in February, second leg in March and now the playoffs that occurred on Saturday. All teams under MLB qualified automatically to participate in the
basketball playoffs since it requires only four teams. In semi-finals, the best three teams will compete, and the two winners will qualify for Major League Basketball
Champion. “Our aim was to allow older people to independently play their own league and then the focus of the association will be on women and the development since they seemed to be
neglected,” Major League Basketball Chairman Ratšolo Molupe unveiled during an interview with Informative Sport. “We found it worthy to form other independent leagues with the aim to enable Lesotho Basketball Association to look at other basketball matters. So since the league is for major players, we only play on Saturdays,” Molupe stated.
