Africa-Press – Lesotho. With the intention to curb the high rate of substance abuse, crime and Gender Based Violence (GBV), Teyateyaneng (TY) Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Limpho Tau

sponsored Motjoka December soccer tournament in a battle of 23 TY teams comprising of 16 Football Clubs (FC) and 7 old stock teams “Metsofe”. This is according to Motjoka Aces FC Secretary General (SG) Leokaoke Lebona whose team

won the tournament, in an interview with Informative Sport. He indicated that the tournament was in a form of playoffs however, every team acquired something

in return. “It is not the first time Motjoka Aces FC take part in this tournament since it is played every time when B-Division league ends, so the whole region of

Teyateyaneng participated in this tournament which began on the 27th December 2020 ending on 03 January 2021 at TY. It became successful with the supervision of Berea District Football Association (DIFA), the inspection of Lesotho

Mounted Police Service (LMPS) members and area Chiefs,” he informed. Lebona enlightened that Motjoka Aces FC is now in the B-Division under the coaching of

Mphonyane Sejane, and the team players are varying from the age of 15 to 34 years. “This is the third time that Motjoka Aces FC participated in the same

kind of tournament and has won all of them in a row,” he said. Lebona noted that the 16 respective winners are Motjoka Aces FC which won a prize of M3000.00, a Cup and gold medals, TY Juventus FC M2000.00 and silver medals,

Kepi United FC M1000.00 and Bronze medals, Ratšiu FC M500.00 while number 5 won M250.00 and others won M50.00 each. The 7 Old stock teams as well according to their sequence won the following prizes, Lithabaneng Masters

FC M3000.00, Cup and medals, Ratšiu Masters FC M2000.00 and silver medals, Tebeli Masters FC M1000.00 and Bronze medals, the fourth team won M500.00 while number

5 up to number 7 won M250.00 each. The village sports tournaments were launched in December by the Minister of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation (MGYSR) Hon. Likeleli Tampane with the initiative to reduce crime and GBV in the country.
