Africa-Press – Lesotho. Multiplex industries hosted an orientation for 20 Basotho youth to provide them with sales, marketing and general business skills. Multiplex Industries Managing Director Tholang Mosisili explained that the company was founded by Basotho youth in 2015, starting as a marketing and branding company.
He said the aim of the training was to, among others, address the peaking unemployment in lesotho, especially for youth, to inspire other upcoming Basotho businesses and Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) to act and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) set by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) thus assisting the government of Lesotho and to equip the selected youth with business skills and encourage them to be open minded.
He said the idea behind the induction of 20 Basotho youth is to aid them amidst the Covid-19 imposed struggles, which also increased the already high unemployment rate.
He said they wanted to share their ideas for these youth to exercise as they navigate the post-graduation era, saying this is the stage where most youth get stuck, others resorting to illegal, even dangerous habits.
“The core mandate of this training is to part-take in eradication of unemployment as the deep rooted problem in the country,” Mosisili said.
He highlighted that they inspire small businesses to contribute in efforts to fight high unemployment. “It is not about waiting for the government to give grants or the Covid-19 relief funds. We can take the matter into our own hands as the youth, by sharing and implementing our ideas,” he explained.
“For me entrepreneurship is important since employment has limitations, There are no boundaries in entrepreneurship,” he continued and mentioned that entrepreneurship unleashed the potential within individuals. He said it opens room for personal, mental and spiritual growth, thereby encouraging youth to bravely venture into business.
