Africa-Press – Lesotho. MySecret Drawer, a fabulous boutique that caters for women who are dedicated to style and elegance, has branded into a confidence booster, with a collection of
nice clothing and dignity accessories for female personalities. This secret shopping corner was established by ‘Mathabelang Mokhali four years ago. Mokhali,
relating her journey in business, explained that she started selling women clothing from the boot of her car back in 2010 as ‘Mathoto according to the well-known term. She further said then,
she was selling clothes on order terms as requested by her customers and would even offer credit to them. She said she incurred a lot of bad debts with this
method of selling, hence she took a break on business for a few years. “After taking a break from business, I then had a dream to establish a boutique and
that is where My Secret Drawer was born,” she shared boldly. Mokhali said she started first by renting a small room in town for business and she still
encountered challenges as there was no enough stock. She pointed out that her biggest aim had always been to sell lingerie because what she had learnt was
that women have low self-esteem when it comes to clothes like lingerie because it is believed to be for white people. She indicated that they also started selling wigs for women through the help of a
foreign friend, who unfortunately left the country. She hastened to say that now with the help of her husband, she had to find means to continue the business. “Since my husband was unemployed then, we had to learn how to make
wigs and surprisingly, he became the best in making them, even now, there are those that are done by him alone because I don’t know them,” she said. Mokhali
emphasized that the boutique has grown so well that they even moved to a bigger room where they sell readily available stock and do not have to wait for people
to make orders anymore. She said another challenge they faced earlier, though positive, is that people from the districts loved her clothing since they would
see them on their Facebook page and that was when they decided to open another branch last year in Leribe being another crowded district. “The uniqueness of My Secret Drawer boutique is that it sells affordable, smart
clothes of good quality,” she reassured. Mokhali indicated that despite the blow of Covid-19 on businesses, she was able to survive, saying she learnt that it
is very important to save enough money to save the business during global challenges. She insisted that this can only be achieved by exercising professional regulation of the business.
