Africa-Press – Lesotho. The President of the Republic of Namibia Dr Nangolo Mbumba has accredited Mr Ntsime Jafeta as the High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the Republic of Namibia.

On presenting his letter of credence to the President in Namibia, Mr Jafeta emphasized the need to have a General Cooperation Agreement (GCA) between the two countries, which can provide a legal framework for identification of bilateral cooperation programmes.

He said that instrument (GSA) will be for laying a foundation for promotion of political dialogue, commercial relations as well as various specific bilateral agreements.

The High Commissioner will be covering the Republic of Namibia on a non-residential basis from Pretoria, Republic of South Africa.

Diplomatic Relations between Lesotho and Namibia date as far back as 1990, shortly after Namibia’s independence.

The two countries have since continued to cooperate at both bilateral and multilateral levels. The duo enjoy close cooperation within the framework of Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Union (AU), Southern African Customs Union (SACU), United Nations (UN), and the Commonwealth, among others.

Before his assignment to serve as High Commissioner for the Kingdom of Lesotho to the Republic of Namibia, Mr Jafeta was appointed to serve as Commissioner of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the Republic of South Africa by His Majesty King Letsie III in 2023.
