Africa-Press – Lesotho. Although the National assembly re-opened on Monday after independence holidays, the House could not proceed with business of the day due to quorum.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mrs. Ts’epang Mosena indicated that Members of Parliament (MP), majority of whom were men, could not meet quorum, disclosing that the Parliamentary women’s caucus were attending a meeting.
She therefore adjourned the House until Tuesday at 14:30.
Meanwhile the Parliamentary women’s caucus was staged in Maseru on Monday with the objective to identify gaps in the fight against gender based violence as well as to outline key actions and strategies to combat GBV, strengthen community involvement and ensure that both government and stakeholders work together to create a safer and more inclusive society for all.
According to standing order number 3, the quorum of the House and of a Committee of the Whole House shall consist of thirty members besides the person presiding.
