During a recent visit to Lesotho’s Ministry of Information, UN Resident Coordinator Residen Taija Kontinen emphasized the importance of ensuring that no one is left behind in the digitization process. She highlighted the need for digital identity solutions to enhance access to government services and improve efficiency and security in identity verification.

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The New United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator, Ms. Residen Taija Kontinen and her delegation arrived at the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science Technology and Inovation (MICST) to pay courtesy call on Minister Nthati Moorosi.

“No one should be left behind when it comes to digitization,” New UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Residen Taija kontinen said during the Ministerial visit.

Digital identity or digitizing certain processes could be considered for convenience, security and efficiency in order for People to easily access Government services and other essential services which require identity verification.

The push for digitization has gained momentum globally, with many countries recognizing its potential to improve service delivery and governance. In Lesotho, the government has been exploring ways to integrate digital solutions into public services, aiming to enhance accessibility and efficiency. The UN’s involvement underscores the importance of international support in achieving these goals, particularly in ensuring that marginalized communities are included in the digital transformation process.
