Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) handed over football equipment worth M426, 060 to 81 women development teams from across the country at Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena last week.

This was the second year LeFA invested in women’s football with football equipment. These are LEFA affiliated teams that have played in leagues under the District Football Associations (DIFAS).

The Association had handed over football equipment in May last year where 81 women participated in the development of the league, the equipment was worth M620 730.

In the same year 2021, the Association used M250 000 which was distributed to 10 Women’s Super League (WSL) teams, each received M25 000. This year, each team out of the 81 received a set of playing kit with three piece, footballs and a set of training bibs.

During the hand over, Lesotho Women’s Football Executive Committee President Baholo Motene expressed her gratitude for the giveaways that LeFA offered them.

Motene illustrated that their main common needs were balls and jerseys since some of their teams had challenges with their away and home jerseys. “The support from our association has improved women’s football.

We are truly honored and we would like to thank LeFA in a very special way,” she said. LeFA Secretary General Mokhosi Mohapi disclosed that LeFA aims to develop football for both Male and Female and that they are walking in the footsteps of their international partners.

Mohapi added that their main aim is to develop, promote and regulate football within the country. He further indicated that even though they had registered quite a lot of teams but in the program where they sponsored women teams, they had chosen 81 women’s teams nationwide.

Mohapi strongly rebuked false reports coming from the districts stating that the teams that LeFA sponsored with football equipment had increased. Paragraph

“The bigger picture should not be about receiving the equipment but being true to ourselves that women football exists in the country and to have teams that we develop to produce players that can represent our country in international competitions,” he concluded. Open publish panel
