Africa-Press – Lesotho. Paramount Equipment Lesotho launched a workshop at Tlaeeng in the Malingoaneng constituency for a Hardox Wearparts Centre, which is a global network of companies that provide
cutting, welding, bending, post-treatment and perforation mining services. Speaking at the sod turning ceremony, Paramount Equipment Lesotho Founder and Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) Innocent Musawenkosi Masinga said they operate in African countries. He stated that he is humbled to be given an opportunity and support from
Lesotho government with an initiative they brought to the country. Masinga outlined that the most important thing is the relationship between private sector and the government because it creates employment as well as eradication
of poverty. Masinga expanded that one of the aspects they intend to bring to the programme is unveiling local skills since they believe Lesotho has a lot of untapped skills that they can develop
through schools of excellence in corporation with local higher education and vocational training colleges to be able to produce local artisans to work in
mining industry as well as construction sectors. He further indicated that M1 billion is going to be spent in the next 5 years “M3 million will be released in the
first 24 months and that will be allocated for the establishment of the workshop, local and training facilities,” Masinga stated. Speaking at the ceremony the
Minister of Mining Hon. Serialong Qoo said he hopes the company will work harmoniously with Mokhotong community and generate employment for Basotho and
Lesotho since high unemployment rate has gone beyond control. Qoo said with such a huge workshop in the country, Lesotho will no longer send mining machinery abroad for repair.
Speaking on behalf of the Mokhotlong mines representatives, Mothae Diamonds General Manager Gideon Sheepers said they are very excited for this development, highlighting that
they have been challenged to find local supplies and other system supplies. He stated Mothae Diamonds will boldly support Paramount Equipment Lesotho with anything they ask for.
Also present to witness the launch, Prime Minister (PM) Dr. Moeketsi Majoro said it has been a great challenge to repair tractors ever since Covid-19 pandemic, therefore he said the opening of the workshop comes at
an appropriate time. He added that the three mines are going to need big machinery that will need to be serviced often, which they have been getting from
other countries. Majoro said this is not only to bring workshop for machinery but also to bring close the machinery used in constructions and mines. Referring to the promise
of the company that they will impart vocational education to Basotho, Majoro said, “last time I had the conversation with ladies and gentlemen of Paramount Equipment I urged them to involve heardboys in this development, it would be nice to hear a heardboy saying they have a part time job”.
