Africa-Press – Lesotho. Advocate Salemane Phafane King’s Council (KC) has been re-elected as Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) President following his victory over Maseru District Football Association

(DIFA) President Lijane Nthunya at Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena on Saturday. In the statement that was issued by

LeFA on Sunday, it was noted that the KC secured 42 votes out of 49 delegates, who were eligible to vote in the congress while his challenger scored only

seven votes. The statement further noted that in his speech, LeFA President, who was recently elected to serve in the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, conveyed his message of gratitude to LeFA structures

for trusting him with another term in office as the President of the football mother body in the Kingdom. “To you my leaders, Secretaries, Presidents, and members of our structures, I thank you for your unshaken trust

in choosing me as the leader of this Association again. I must say that without you, I’m nothing. “I once again appeal to all the structures to join hands for the betterment of our football.

I take this position on a mandate from you and together we can grow the level of football in this country to higher level. We have big dreams for our football, we need your expertise,

and we invite all of you to work with us to achieve this dream of ours,” reads the statement in pertinent part. It also presented that LeFA XVI Congress was graced by officials from the Lesotho Sports and Recreation

Commission (LSRC), Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC), LeFA Honorary Secretary General Chief Justice Tṧeliso Monaphathi and Honorary National Executive Committee (NEC) members Mr.

Thabo Pule and Mr. Rantsubise Matete among many others. LeFA Secretary General (SG) Mohapi Mokhosi, in an exclusive interview with Informative Sport on Monday,

indicated that LeFA Presidential elections were transparent in witness of all LeFA administration structures. He noted that normally LeFA held its Presidential

elections after every four years and this congress was the 16th. “The re-elected LeFA President firstly gained experience from Lesotho Football in Bantu Football Club – “A matšo Matebele”

as Legal Advisor and later became Secretary General. He then joined LeFA where he performed his assignments with due respect as a Legal Advisor, Secretary General, Vice President and then he replaced the

late LeFA President Thabo Makakole in 2005 to be LeFA President,” Mokhosi noted. He added that Phafane also served in various positions in the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“He was appointed to as a member of the world football governing body – Federation of International Football (FIFA) Disciplinary Committee and Honorary Vice President of the Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA).
