Africa-Press – Lesotho. Managing Director at KIDS WORLD Maki ‘Matalenta Mejaele Pheko paid tribute to the founder of Basotho nation King Moshoeshoe I by releasing two of her newest publications – BA RE E NE RE and Losing Battle – on Moshoeshoe’s day, March 11th.
Also an entrepreneur and Visionary Founder at Child Advocacy Center, Pheko told Informative Arts&Lifestyle that her writing journey started 12 years ago even though she only started
publishing recently. She further highlighted that she published her first book titled ‘Inside Wounds Never Form Scars’ in 2020. “I was not able to publish even a single book during the 12 years due
to the struggles I was going through then, however I am grateful that I have now published three books in a space of two years,” she said. Pheko revealed that her
passion for writing manifested during her high school days at Tšakholo. She said her teachers played a big part in nurturing her talent, adding that she
was influenced more into writing after failing Law at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) in two trials. She says this tragic experience left her
hopeless and surprisingly played a huge part in intensifying her love for writing. “I used the platform to express the bleeding wounds within my heart in
order to heal, my first publication, “Inside Wounds Never Form Scars” was inspired by this experience,” she said. Pheko added that she took advantage of the challenging times in her life.
She said even though she has been writing for many years she has not participated in competitions and hopes for such to grow and improve her talent. She said she loves writing because
it leaves a print for future reference. “The graft has even transformed the environment, where written stories are later told in movies and other media diversities,”
she said. She said it is her aspiration to see all her books filmed and televised. Pheko mentioned that the development caters for people who do not have a reading desire, which efforts a different channel of information dissemination.
